ICT - Student Skills Checklist (Grades 1-7)

The members and guests of Math Worksheets Online help determine what MWO creates. Extensive reader feedback allows us to create worksheets that are always warmly welcomed and widely used.

Sometimes we get odd requests from frazzled teachers - we recently got an email from a very frazzled teacher who needed spelling lists of all things - and since MWO is staffed by teachers and ex-teachers - we were able to help out a colleague, pronto. (By the way, members of MWO have access to these spelling lists...)

Recently, we got a request for a skills list for ICT. It just so happened that one of our staff members had created just a document for her own class and was more than happy to share. Hence, we release to members of Math Worksheets Online, a complete - grade 1-7 skills list which can be downloaded now from the members area in Ms Word and pdf formats NOW.

This student checklist can be used in ICT lessons as a student guide, teacher checklist or the basis of an ICT program. (See also: ICT worksheets available to members) It features an extensive list of skills from a range of ICT devices, programs as well as an extensive list of understandings, attitudes and ICT procedures (research, editing, drafting, composing, inventing etc...)

Multiplication using a Strategy

There is currently a great deal of publicity relating to math books that can teach children multiplication tables up to 12 times in less than an hour.

Essentially, the skill involved in achieving this is not through learning the tables by rote but rather learning a set of strategies to help you work out the answers. This approach to maths has been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

We wrote our own set of learning multiplication through strategy worksheets for members of math worksheets online.

Cluster Problem Math Strategy

We saw with interest a very thought provoking movie clip on YouTube the other week relating to "Cluster Problem" strategies being taught in some American schools at the moment.

Oddly, this type of learning/ teaching is not new - some Australian schools have been teaching this form of math for a few years now - but strangely, very few parents (and perhaps, teachers) do not understand its full value (particularly to young learners).

Why is there so much hostility towards such a teaching/learning method? Please take the time to view the program.

Math Worksheets Online is testing a new form of "helper worksheet" which aims to help students (and teachers) identify the types of strategies involved in solving math problems - particularly with multiplication.

We've attached a copy of a draft worksheet and we'd particularly like feedback about its usefulness from teachers, parents, home-schoolers or even students who are using the "cluster problem" approach and our worksheet. Math Worksheets Online is introducing the first in a series of Quick Number Fact Worksheets.

The first series (10 A4 worksheets - 20 A6 worksheets) suitable for standard exercise books is now available to members.

These worksheets will be available to members as part of their standard subscription.

What are Math Homework Worksheets?

Math Homework Worksheets are pre-made homework contracts suitable for children of various ages. Each worksheet covers a variety of math concepts and forms part of an overall yearly program of weekly homework tasks (32 worksheets in each series).

The tiresome thing about teaching is preparation! Every teachers' nightmere! That's what makes Math Worksheets Online so special to teachers - preparation is a breeze - because most of the work has been done!

Our Pre-Made Homework Worksheets are easy to print off, mix and match and use in a variety of situations. We even include sections on the worksheet for name, date, school, assessment and parental signature. We also feature a variety of "blank templates" (available in Ms Word or OpenOffice formats) so that teachers can create their own homework worksheets to specifically target their student's year level or ability level(s) or edit the worksheets that need editing for specific reasons.
